MeeFog Recognized as the Energy Infrastructure Solution of the Year

An industrial power generation facility showing gas turbine infrastructure and heat recovery steam generators partially framed by green foliage.

Recently named the 2026 “Energy Infrastructure Solution of the Year,” MeeFog uses high-pressure evaporative cooling to restore gas turbine output lost during extreme summer heat. This scalable technology gives plant managers an immediate, cost-effective lever to stabilize the power grid and increase generating efficiency—all without the need for expensive capital expansions or new infrastructure.

Precision Fogging Stabilizes the Grid Without Capital Expansion

Aging turbine fleets and rising temperatures are increasingly straining power grids worldwide. Gas turbines experience reduced efficiency as ambient air temperatures increase, a challenge that intensifies during summer months. Traditionally, utilities and independent power producers have faced a difficult tradeoff: invest in new generating capacity or accept reduced output when it’s needed most.  Mee Industries provides a proven, scalable method to address these limitations quickly and efficiently. By using evaporative fogging to cool turbine inlet air, facilities can restore or increase output without replacing equipment. MeeFog systems help sustain power during peak demand, reducing blackout risk and reliance on costly, inefficient peaker plants.

MeeFog is one of the most cost-effective infrastructure upgrades available, allowing operators to modernize their facilities without major capital expansion. Plants routinely report to us more than 20,000 hours of operation without any corrective maintenance besides standard scheduled maintenance and inspections.”  Thomas Mee, CEO of Mee Industries

The Mechanics of Precision Cooling

System performance depends on maximizing the droplet surface area. Operating at 2,000 psi, high-pressure pumps send demineralized water through stainless steel tubing to proprietary impaction-pin nozzles. Each nozzle forms billions of fine droplets per second, which evaporate instantly, cooling intake air and boosting turbine output before it enters the compressor.

The system sprays fine droplets of demineralized water, typically at 2,000 to 3,000 psi, into the turbine air intake. As the water evaporates, the intake air is cooled, which increases air density and mass flow. This results in higher power output, especially in hot, dry weather

Supporting the Transition to More Efficient Energy Systems

MeeFog was named the 2026 “Energy Infrastructure Solution of the Year” by CleanTech Breakthrough, which reviewed thousands of nominations from companies in over 16 countries, reflecting growing global investment in climate and clean technology solutions.

“Mee Industries offers an energy infrastructure upgrade that modernizes gas turbine plants, enhances resilience, increases output and efficiency through a highly scalable, low impact technology. MeeFog is a powerful, proven, and scalable solution, and our pick for ‘Energy Infrastructure Solution of the Year.– Bryan Vaughn, Managing Director, CleanTech Breakthrough.

The recognition reflects what more than 1,200 facilities already running MeeFog technology have demonstrated operationally: improving efficiency, reducing waste, and maximizing existing assets can play a practical role in strengthening grid resilience while supporting the broader transition to lower-carbon energy systems.

Grid volatility will intensify as the integration of renewable energy sources alters baseline power dynamics. Infrastructure Planners cannot build their way out of every peak demand crisis. Upgrading the thermodynamic efficiency of existing turbines is no longer just a cost-saving measure, it’s one of the fastest levers plant operators can pull right now.

MeeFog System Increases Power Output in Desert Conditions

Power Recovery in Extreme Heat

See how a APR Energy was able to generate a 16 MW total power boost (4 MW per gas turbine) after installing the MeeFog system in the Sahara Desert.

  • Extreme Heat Mitigation: The system successfully combats ambient temperatures of 113°F (45°C), which typically cause significant performance drops in gas turbines.

  • Precision Engineering: To achieve this, the system uses 336 nozzles operating at 2,000 psi to create fog droplets just 8 microns in size—roughly one-tenth the diameter of a human hair.

  • Cooling Efficiency: This high-pressure fogging provides a massive 49°F (27°C) cooling capacity, effectively “tricking” the turbines into performing as if they were in a much cooler climate.
